Post Date:09/27/2017 2:07 PM
The City of Ankeny is seeking a consulting firm to update and revise its Parks and Facilities Comprehensive Plan. The updated plan will help guide future parks and facilities development and decision making within the community with a horizon year of 2040.

The City’s last Parks and Facilities Comprehensive Plan was completed in 2007 and since that time Ankeny has experienced tremendous residential and commercial growth. In the past 15 years, Ankeny’s population has increased from 27,117 to more than 60,000 residents.

Currently, the Parks & Recreation Department oversees more than 37 parks and open spaces, in addition to two aquatic centers, an elite 18-hole municipal golf course, a youth sports complex (consisting of 15 baseball fields, 9 soccer fields, 6 softball fields and 6 football fields), an adult sports complex (consisting of 2 softball fields and 4 sand volleyball courts), two community public rental facilities, over 70 miles of community and regional trails, and programming participation numbers exceeding 34,000 annually.

Proposals are due Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at 4 p.m. Interviews will be held in November with a selection committee and final selection will be made in December.
