City Council Discusses Mayoral Candidates - Will Make Appointment December 10th

ANKENY, Iowa (Dec. 4, 2012) - At a meeting last night, the city council discussed the letters received from residents interested in being considered for appointment as interim mayor.
The vacancy is the result of current Mayor Steve Van Oort’s election to the Polk County Board of Supervisors in last month’s election. He has submitted a letter of resignation effective at noon on December 7th.
“I think it is fantastic that eight citizens have expressed a desire to serve our community,” said City Council Member Bobbi Bentz. “I look forward to hearing from citizens about the prospective candidates as this process moves forward.”
The city council will consider the mayoral appointment at a special City Council meeting on December 10th. The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
