Parks & Recreation Senior Meals
Each month, Ankeny Parks & Recreation caters a noon luncheon for Ankeny citizens 60 years and older at the Lakeside
Center. Pre-registration is required for each luncheon. Registration for luncheons will be accepted solely for the three luncheons
announced in the current quarterly fl yer. We are unable to reserve spots for an entire year at one time. Luncheons
are limited to 160 citizens. If you are registered for the luncheon and are no longer able to attend please call and have your
name removed as we have a waiting list for our luncheons. To register for luncheons, call the Parks & Recreation offi ce at
963-3570. Cost is $3.00 per person and is due at the luncheon. All guests are invited to stay after lunch for bingo. Be sure to
check the date you can begin reserving luncheons on your quarterly fl yer.

Activity Registration
Senior Trips
Trips are planned throughout the year and vary from extended day trips by motor coach (open to all Ankeny area adults) to our
annual day trip around the Ankeny/Des Moines area. All trips require pre-registration and payment to reserve a seat and have a
minimum registration requirement. Be sure to check each trip's deadlines. Itinerary is subject to change. Refunds cannot be guaranteed
after the deadline date. Please mail registration form and payment to Ankeny Parks & Recreation, 210 South Ankeny Blvd.
IOWA STATE FAIR - DES MOINES, IA
Date: August 18
Cost: $6 (Transportation only.)
- All fair entry costs and food expenses are additional.
- Depart from Lakeside Center at 8:30 a.m. via city van.
- The van will drop off at Ye Old Mill on the fair grounds.
- The van will load at the Ye Old Mill at 3:00 p.m.
- Return to Lakeside Center at 3:30 p.m.
- Spots fill up fast. Sign up early!
MESKWAKI CASINO - TAMA, IA
Date: September 23 (additional trips possible)
Cost: $10 (Transportation only)
- Any food or gambling expenses are additional
- Depart from Lakeside Center at 10 a.m. via city van.
- Opportunity to explore casino from 11 a.m - 3 p.m.
- You will return to Lakeside Center at 4 p.m.
- This trip is limited to 12 participants, so register soon!
STAR DUSTERS – LAKE ROBBINS IN WOODWARD, IA
Dates: August 8, September 31, October 31 and more
Cost: $20 (transportation, admissions and special prizes)
- Monthly trips on Sunday evenings
- Enjoy the sound of the Star Dusters
- Food and beverages – for purchase
- Pick up location: Parks & Recreation Bldg. parking lot
- Charter bus depart time – 5:30 p.m. (approximately)

- Dinner at the Iowa Machine Shed (on your own)
- Tour lights in the metro area
