The Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library Foundation is an independent, philanthropic organization established in 2006 by members of the community.
As a 501(c)(3) corporation, charitable donations are considered tax deductible by the Internal Revenue Services. Foundation funds are not used to replace or supplant public funding.
To augment and enhance public funding for the Kirkendall Public Library.
Through partnerships with individuals, corporations, the city of Ankeny, and other organizations, the Foundation envisions provision of access to information to members of the community through the following key initiatives:
- Facility Development – To ensure library facilities are adequate to provide opportunities and experiences to enhance information available to Ankeny’s growing community.
- Financial Endowment – To develop and manage a fund that creates access to physical and virtual resources, services, and information for all community members that would not be otherwise available.
- Friends of the Library – To involve individuals and community groups to work with staff, the Foundation, and Kirkendall Board of Trustees to enhance library experiences.
- Partnerships – To continually seek partnerships and new collaborative opportunities to grow community spirit, imagination, and culture.
