Reading Logs

Reading Logs will be available for ALL ages (infants-adults) on Tuesday, June 7th.  Prizes may be claimed beginning on Friday, June 10 until Sunday, July 31.

 

Story Times in the Park

Story Times will be offered outdoors at various parks in Ankeny this summer! In the event of rain, story time will be held at the library in the meeting room.

Summer Lego Club

Lego Club is offered for children ages 5 and up who love to build with Legos and be creative.  Enjoy an open time to build with other Lego enthusiasts!  Lego Club will be held in the Children’s Craft Room.

Open Art Studio

Ben’s Bubble Show

Dan Wardell from Iowa Public Television

Friday, June 24th 9:30 AM OR 10:30 AM – Prairie Ridge Middle School

Join Dan Wardell as he begins his 2016 Reading Road Trip around the state of Iowa.  Dan will encourage kids to turn the TV off, go outside and play and read books through an interactive story. (Approximately 45 minutes – parking available at the school)

 

Music Together Demonstration Classes

Music Together is a delightful, joyous approach to music-making with your infant, toddler, or preschooler.  This award winning program offers families an opportunity to sing, dance and play rhythm instruments together in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. It nourishes parents' efforts to create a rich musical environment at home, regardless of their musical abilities.

University of Iowa Mobile Museum       

Thursday, June 30th: 10:00 AM-3:00 PM     

The Mobile Museum inspires visitors to understand the world by bringing exhibits with cutting-edge research, one-of-a-kind artifacts, and interactive digital media to Iowa’s communities statewide.

The Blank Park Zoo will be visiting the Library several days this summer!  The Zoo will bring small animals for show and tell. Space is limited, so please plan to attend one program. (Approximately 45 minutes) These programs are most appropriate for children over the age of 4.

Hy-Vee KidsFit is a fun, at-home program designed for kids and families to help promote health, exercise and nutrition as a priority in our daily lives. This program is designed to be done without workout equipment to make it accessible for everyone.

Variety Show

Kirkendall Public Library Teens will present a variety of acts they have worked on with professional entertainer/clown to the crowd. (Approximately 30-45 minutes – parking available at the school)

 

Juggling Jeff

An interactive comedy show with high energy, improvisation, danger, suspense, ridiculousness, audience participation, and more! (Approximately 45 minutes – parking available at the school)

 

Family Fun Walk

Thursday, July 28th: 6:00-7:30 PM (Outdoors near the Library)

Celebrate the end of the June/July Summer Reading Program and help us kick-off the August Reading Program, “Read to Rio”.  Participants will complete a one mile walk and enjoy refreshments afterwards.

The Library will show a movie on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 PM in the Prairie Ridge Cafeteria.  Bring your own snack and covered drink and enjoy the show! (parking available at the school)

Teen Programs

 Teen Programs are for kids entering 6th grade & up and will be on the following Thursday afternoons at 1:00 PM.  Programs will be held in the Library Meeting Room.  Registration is not required unless indicated.

June 16th: Farrell’s Extreme Body Shaping (teens will have an opportunity to win a teen summer session)
