On 1/30/17 the below pictured suspect and his associate used a skimmed debit card at a local business in Ankeny. The suspect attempted to use multiple cards to purchase gift cards. Case # 16-005587

On 12/14/16 a white male stole an HP laptop computer and a P70-VR drone from a local department store in Ankeny. When confronted by loss prevention associates, the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was wearing a black coat, a blue Nike t-shirt, blue jeans, red tennis shoes and a blue stocking cap. The suspect fled the scene in a tan or gold colored Honda Accord. Case # 16-005463

Update 12/28/16: Suspects identified  
On 11/27/16, three subjects entered an Ankeny area business and concealed into a backpack $192.10 in alcohol. The male went to the counter to pay and stated he forgot his wallet and needed to go to the car, leaving his groceries and exiting past all points of sale. The two females had already exited past all points of sale and left the building. The suspects are described as an African American/Asian male, age 30-40, approximately 5’10” tall and 200 pounds, wearing a red backpack, an African American female, approximately 20-30 years old, 5’5” tall and 200 lbs, and a white female approximately 20-30 years old, 5’7” tall, weighing approximately 200 lbs.  Both females were described as heavy set. If you are able to identify the subject or have any information, please contact Detective Betsy Anderson at 515-289-5268 or banderson@ankenyiowa.gov

Case # 16-005395

On 12/2/16 around 5:20 p.m. an unidentified male stole two female wedding bands from a local jewelry store and fled the scene on foot. The subject's last known whereabouts were the 100 block of NE Hayes Drive. The subject was described as a heavy set male, approximately 5'7'' tall, weighing more than 250 lbs, with shorter, thick black hair, a heavy brow and black beard and mustache which were closely shaven. The following male was observed using counterfeit bills last month at a retail store in Ankeny. On 10/25/16 around 7 p.m. a young caucasian male stole three bottles of alcohol from a local store.  When confronted by staff, the suspect fled on foot. The suspect is approximately 5’10” tall, and was wearing a red Ankeny Hawks sweatshirt, black undershirt, blue jeans and red tennis shoes. The pictured suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6'0" tall, 150 pounds, with short brown hair, fresh scabs on his face and tattoos on both arms. He is possibly in his 30's, wearing a green Athletic A's baseball cap, Iowa Hawkeye t-shirt and dark colored athletic shorts. He was driving an older silver van with a black pin-stripe and rust around the wheel wells. On 8/12/16, a burglary to an occupied home in Ankeny was reported. A credit card was taken from the residence and used at the Last Stop Liquor Shop on the East side of Des Moines, near the fairgrounds. The below pictured vehicle is associated with the use of the card. Case # 15-003371

On 08/08/15 Ankeny patrol officers attempted to complete a traffic stop on a Blue 2000 Ford Explorer with Illinois license plates.  The driver led the patrol officer on a short pursuit before striking a patrol vehicle with his vehicle, and fleeing into a cornfield.  The driver escaped capture this day, however the vehicle was recovered.  A receipt was located inside the vehicle, and subsequent security video shows the suspect.  Anyone who may be able to identify the subject, please email Detective Jeremy Ripperger at jripperger@ankenyiowa.gov

Case # 16-003015

On 07/19/16 a vehicle burglary occurred in the 1400 block of SW Vintage Pkwy. The victim’s window was broken and her purse stolen. The victim’s credit card was used at two local businesses in Ankeny. The suspect is a white male wearing a blue plaid shirt, shorts, sandals, and a cowboy hat. The suspect vehicle appears to be a black Chevrolet Impala.

On July 12, 2016 two males vandalized video games and took cash at a local Ankeny restaurant.  Male 1 is a white male, approximately 6’3” 275 lbs wearing a black t-shirt and jean shorts.  Male 2 is a white male, approximately 5’9” 165 lbs wearing a white polo and dress shorts.

On April 10th & 11th 2016 two females wrote over $6000 in checks on closed accounts out of Kansas City and Blue Springs, Missouri to an Ankeny business.  They left the area in a black GMC Yukon with unidentifiable, but possibly Missouri plates.

The incident occurred at the 500 block of North Ankeny on May 23rd, 2016 at 5:15PM. This unidentified male was observed passing counterfeit money at a local business.  The male possibly goes by the alias “Pablo” and may be passing additional counterfeit money.

On 05/29/16 during the afternoon, a vehicle was burglarized at the Cascade Falls waterpark. A purse was stolen, and the victim’s credit cards were used in the Des Moines metro area. The male suspect was recorded on camera using the victim’s credit cards. Suspect is a white male, wearing a grey shirt, black shorts, and a baseball cap. Suspect is possibly associated with a maroon mini-van.

On 05/31/16 overnight a vehicle was stolen from the NE side of Ankeny with the victim’s purse inside the vehicle.  The vehicle was later recovered in Des Moines.  The suspect below was recorded using the victim’s debit card.  The suspect is a white male, wearing a plaid shirt, and a black baseball hat.   A tan Chevrolet Suburban is associated with the suspect.

Update 10/6/16: Suspect identified
On 04/17/16 a motor vehicle was stolen on SE Corporate Woods Dr around 2 a.m. in the morning. The male suspect was observed going into a convenience store on SE Oralabor Rd. The male was wearing a red polo style shirt and a black baseball hat. The suspect has multiple tattoos on his left arm.

On 05/16/16 a motor vehicle was burglarized, and the victim’s credit card was used fraudulently to purchase a 50 inch television in Ankeny. The suspect is a white male, who was wearing a yellow t-shirt, black shorts, and black baseball cap. The suspect appears to have tattoos on both of his arms and left calf.

On 05/28/16 a local business was burglarized overnight around 2 The suspect was recorded on surveillance video fleeing Westbound on foot near SE Oralabor Rd. The suspect appears to be a female wearing an inside out sweatshirt, black baseball cap, blue jeans and tennis shoes with a light colored stripe. The blue jeans are unique because there are three torn holes on the side of the left leg.
