ANKENY, Iowa (November 30, 2012) - The Ankeny Police Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery at the Kohl’s department store in Ankeny. On 11/12/12 at 12:35 p.m. a loss prevention officer with Kohl’s called to report he was struck by a vehicle driven by a female shoplifting suspect.

The loss prevention officer stated the female suspect had been observed shoplifting while in the store and was pursued to the suspect’s light blue Dodge Caravan. The suspect was able to enter her unoccupied minivan and lock the doors before the loss prevention officer could detain her. The suspect started the Dodge Caravan and backed the van into the loss prevention officer who was recording the license plate number of the vehicle.

The loss prevention officer commanded her to stop and then heard the vehicle accelerate in reverse a second time where it struck him again in the leg and hip almost knocking him to the ground. The suspect vehicle then fled from the scene. The loss prevention officer suffered minor leg and hip injury but did not require medical attention.

The suspect in the photo was described as a Caucasian female, 25-30 years old, 5-05, 215 lbs., with brown hair. The suspect was wearing a distinctive red and white horizontal striped long sleeve shirt. The suspect’s purse was black in color with glitter or rhinestone hearts on it. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2000-2007 light blue Dodge Caravan.

If you have any information which would assist in identifying the suspect you are asked to call the Ankeny Police Department at 515-289-5240 or Polk County Crime Stoppers at 515-223-1400.
