The City of Ankeny is accepting applications for Planner I in the Planning and Building department. Primary function is to assist in the development and administration of policies, programs and public relations concerning planning, zoning and community development; to review annexations, zoning amendments, variances, site plans and subdivisions for compliance with ordinances, codes and regulations; and to assist in the preparation of staff reports to the Plan and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, other related boards and commissions, and the general public.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in planning, landscape architecture or related field. Practical experience through work or internships in planning or related field. Must also have a valid Iowa driver’s license.
Ability to learn and understand local ordinances, state and federal rules and regulations; knowledge of zoning activities and code enforcement activities; ability to speak before, and establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, civic groups, special interest groups and the public.
Starting salary is $43,458 annually plus excellent benefits. Applications must be received or postmarked no later than May 24, 2013.
