    Completed applications must be submitted a minimum of 10 business days prior to the proposed start date. 

    A non-refundable $20 application fee is due at the time of application. Payment should be remitted to the Ankeny City Clerk's office at City Hall, 410 W. First St., Ankeny, IA  50023. You may pay in person, by mail, or over the phone. Phone payments must be made with a credit card by calling 515-965-6400, opt. 6.

    Application Checklist:

    • Valid state issued Driver’s License or Identification Card
    • Vehicle registration for all vehicles that will be used during vending
    • Color pictures of mobile vending unit: Front, Back, and Side
    • Written consent from property owners to operate on their property
    • Certificate of Liability Insurance listing the City of Ankeny as “Certificate Holder” (General Liability of at least $500,000 Each Occurrence, $500,000 Damage to Rented Premises-each occurrence, and $1M General Aggregate)
    • Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals License to operate
    • Business owner background check completed at
    • Ankeny Fire Department Operational Permit (if cooking on-site)

    NOTE: Annual licenses received after June 30 shall be prorated as follows: 
    July 1-Sept. 30, $200; Oct. 1-Dec. 31, $150; Jan. 1-March 31, $75

    As defined in Ankeny City Code Chapter 142, MOBILE FOOD VENDORS

  5. Will you be cooking on-site?*

    If yes, a copy of your Ankeny Fire Department Operational Permit is required. Contact Ankeny Fire at 515-965-6475. The Ankeny Fire Department will notify the City Clerk upon completion.

  12. Indemnification

    To the fullest extent permitted by law, the applicant agrees to defend, pay on behalf of, indemnify, and hold harmless the City against any and all claims, demands, suits, damages or losses, together with any and all outlay and expense connected therewith, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees and court costs, that may be asserted or claimed against, recovered from or suffered by the City by reason of any injury or loss, including, but not limited to, personal injury, including bodily injury or death, property damage, including loss of use thereof, and economic damages arising out of or in any way connected or associated with the applicants activities.

    I certify that all information in this application and the required documents is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and upon submittal becomes public record. I understand that any missing documentation may delay license approval. I further understand that should I commit a violation of the terms and conditions of this license; my license may be revoked. I agree that I will obtain any other permits necessary and will follow the guidelines and requirements set forth in Chapter 142 of the City of Ankeny’s Municipal Code and on the list of requirements provided to me.
