Mayor's Tree Lighting

Make some memories at the Mayor's Tree Lighting! Mayor Gary Lorenz and the Ankeny City Council invite the community to come together to celebrate the holiday season.

Enjoy live music from The Nadas, an ice carving demonstration and more! New for 2018, guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Helping Hand Food Pantries throughout Ankeny. This free community event will conclude with the Mayor and Santa lighting the tree and a holiday fireworks show. Make this annual event part of your family's holiday traditions!

A Helping Hand needs the following donations: (*Because the little pantries are not climate controlled, canned goods or anything that can freeze or explode is not advised during the winter months) breakfast cereals, oatmeal, pop tarts, pancake mix, pasta of all kinds, hamburger and tuna helper, tuna pouches, Ramen noodles, peanut butter, mac & cheese, dry soup mixes, dried beans, rice in bags or boxes, dried potatoes, powdered gravy, stuffing, taco shells & seasoning, crackers, protein bars, granola bars, bread and all types of bakery products, cookies, powdered jello and puddings, all types of sugar, flour, powdered formula, baby wipes, diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, bars of soap, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hats, gloves, scarves, hand and foot warmers and socks.
