South Ankeny Boulevard lane closures to begin week of March 30
Update: This project will begin the week of March 30, 2020.
The City of Ankeny will resume work on the South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive/SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements Project starting the week of March 23, weather permitting. Northbound and southbound traffic along South Ankeny Boulevard, in the vicinity of SE Shurfine Drive, will be restricted to one lane for 2-4 weeks this spring for a portion of the remaining work. The speed limit on South Ankeny Boulevard from DMACC Boulevard/SE Lorenz Drive to SW/SE Magazine Road will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph for the remainder of the project, which is anticipated to last 6-8 weeks. For the safety of the construction workers, drivers are encouraged to slow down through active construction zones.
The South Ankeny Boulevard and SE Shurfine Drive/SW Prairie Trail Parkway Intersection Improvements Project will improve traffic safety and mobility by adding dedicated left and right turn lanes on all four legs of the reconstructed intersection. Other improvements include:
- a new permanent traffic signal
- the connection of SW Prairie Trail Parkway to South Ankeny Boulevard
- associated pedestrian and landscaping improvements
