Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library will reopen to the public June 22
The City of Ankeny is pleased to announce the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library will reopen to the public with limited services and some restrictions on Monday, June 22. To help encourage social distancing and stop the spread of COVID-19, capacity will be limited to 75 people and all visitors will be required to wear a face covering while in the library.
Services will be limited to quick browsing and checkouts, with an emphasis on reduced interactions with staff. Patrons should bring their library card or card number to expedite checkout. Library patrons will be encouraged to limit their time in the building so others can use the facility. Computer usage is limited to one hour. Play areas, seating areas, conference rooms, study rooms, teen room and Hatch Makerspace will remain closed. The Summer Reading Program will only be offered online and all other programming is canceled until further notice.
To allow for proper cleaning of library materials, returns will be accepted in the drop boxes outside and in the lobby only. Curbside service for vulnerable populations and those that cannot wear a face covering when the library reopens will be offered Sundays, 1 – 4:45 p.m. beginning Sunday, June 28. The library, however, will be closed to the public on Sundays.
