Post Date:09/07/2017 9:28 AM
It has been 16 years since our nation suffered terrible losses on Sept. 11, 2001. Never has one single event created such a high loss of life for public safety agencies as was experienced on this day.

The Ankeny Fire Department will conduct a Remembrance Ceremony to honor the memory of all the victims of the tragedy on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Ankeny Fire Station #1 in the east entrance, located at 120 NW Ash Dr. in Ankeny. Department personnel, family members, area fire and police departments and the public are invited to attend. A reception will follow in the museum area of the Fire Station.

The Remembrance Ceremony will follow the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) recommendations including the “Moment of Silence with Bells Ceremony.” The ceremony honors those who lost their lives from the fire service, law enforcement and civilians on this fateful day.

For more information regarding the Remembrance Ceremony, please contact Deputy Chief Prowant at (515) 965-6472 or
