Make some memories at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting
Ankeny Mayor Gary Lorenz and the City Council invite the community to the fourth annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting featuring live music from The Nadas, Santa and Mayor Lorenz lighting the tree and a spectacular fireworks finale! This free event will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 6 – 7 p.m. at AMP (Ankeny Market & Pavilion) located at 715 W. First St. in Ankeny.
New this year, guests are encouraged to help feed the hungry by donating non-perishable food items at the event to benefit A Helping Hand, the little food pantries throughout Ankeny. In addition to The Nadas, the event will feature an ice carving demonstration, Santa and Mrs. Claus, face painting and more.
“I hope you will make this event one of your family traditions. The holiday lights and music, along with Santa and the fireworks provides a hometown feel; perfect for making memories with family, neighbors and friends,” said Mayor Lorenz.
Families are encouraged to return to Uptown Ankeny on Saturday for Christmas in Uptown. Starting at noon, guests will enjoy Santa’s treasure hunt, treats, specials, shopping, gift wrapping and horse drawn wagon rides.
