    Sawgrass Park pedestrian bridge work

    Post Date:02/27/2019 11:25 a.m.
The City of Ankeny is in the process of replacing the deck planks for the Sawgrass Park pedestrian bridge. Construction should be completed by March 2, please avoid this area until the work is complete. The contractors need plenty of room to work and we do not want anyone to get hurt attempting to use the bridge during construction. Once the planks are replaced and the bridge is reopened, the surface will have a slick residue on it for a few months until the planks have a chance to weather a bit. The Parks & Recreation Department recommends that pets should not use the bridge until the oily substance has weathered, as it can cause discomfort to dog’s feet (there are no harmful chemicals used on the planks). Caution should also be used when riding bikes/scooters/roller blades etc. across the bridge. Thank you for your patience as we make these necessary repairs.
