Swim lesson registration is postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Sales for aquatic center passes are on hold until further notice. Opening day for the aquatic centers, swimming lessons and all programming offered at the pools will be evaluated in mid-May and changes will be communicated once the details have been determined.

When will you decide on a new swim lesson registration date?
A new date for swim lesson registration will be determined in mid-May. Changes will be communicated through the City website www.ankenyiowa.gov and on Facebook, Twitter and NextDoor.
Can I sign up for swimming lessons in person?
Once a date has been determined, swimming lesson registration will be done online this year. If you are unable to complete registration online, please contact our office.
What if I already bought my aquatic center pass?
The City will be communicating directly with 2020 Aquatic Center season pass holders once an opening date is determined. If the opening date is later than originally planned, prorated discounts and refunds will be communicated at that time.
Can I buy an aquatic center season pass now?
Aquatic season passes are not for sale at this time.
Can I reserve the pool for an event this summer?
Pool party reservations are not being accepted at this time.
Can I sign up for a special event at the aquatic center?
Registration for aquatic center programming is on hold at this time.

Ankeny parks and trails are currently open to the public for recreation but due to COVID-19, effective immediately, playground equipment and shelter houses are closed until further notice. All park restrooms remain closed and water fountains are turned off. The Skate Park is closed. The Dog Park, along with the tennis, pickleball and basketball courts will remain open at this time. Team sports, pickup games and contact play are prohibited. The City will not install caution tape or fencing at the parks; residents are asked to do their part to keep our family, friends, neighbors and community safe. Signage will be posted at each park regarding the closure.
All parks and recreation youth and adult sports, leagues, classes and programs are canceled. The Parks and Recreation Department will issue full refunds for any canceled rentals or programs beginning or taking place from March 17 – May 10. We appreciate your patience as refunds are a manual process that must be completed by staff. There is no need to send a request for refunds.
All public and private events scheduled at the Otter Creek Golf Course, Prairie Ridge Sports Complex, Ankeny Market & Pavilion, Lakeside Center, Outdoor Education Center, Pinnacle Club, Skate Park, and park shelters are canceled. Through April 30, Ankeny Parks and Recreation will not issue any rental permits, including gym rentals, athletic fields and park shelters.
Otter Creek Golf Course is closed. This closure includes the golf course, Tin Cup Bar & Grille and reservations with the Pinnacle Club. The driving range and practice facilities will remain open for public use during this time.
Public parks and trails will remain open, however all restrooms in the parks will be unavailable. Ankeny Parks & Recreation encourages residents to utilize parks and trails at their own risk and strongly encourages users to practice social distancing and good hygiene.
The Dog Park is open. Maintenance staff is sanitizing the gates and entrance keypad multiple times per day.
Heritage Park Disc Golf Course is open. Use at your own risk and practice social distancing and good hygiene.
Park Board meeting scheduled for April 27 has been canceled. Park Board Meetings are scheduled at the Parks & Recreation office on the last Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
All city buildings will be closed to the public. The entrance of City Hall will serve as a drop zone for business that cannot be completed online or via phone. All residents, contractors and others are encouraged to do business via phone, email or the website. The lobby will not be staffed.
