    Ride-Along Program

    The Ankeny Fire Department's Ride-Along Program allows current Fire and EMS students to experience, first hand, the satisfaction in helping our citizens during an emergency. This program provides a closer look at what firefighting and EMS are and how you can pursue this as a career.

    Observers are welcome to schedule  either a six or 12 hour shift Monday-Saturday, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. 

    Participant Requirements:

    • Must be 16 years or older
    • Must be a student, enrolled in a fire-related or EMS-related course
    • Complete the required paperwork
    • Interview with the Division Chief of Training prior to the scheduled ride time to discuss expectations. 
    Please complete a Ride-Along Request Form and a representative  from the Fire Department will be in contact to schedule your interview and observation time.
