The mission of the Kirkendall Public Library is to provide equal access to information, materials and services within an environment that welcomes interaction and personal enrichment for all the people of our community.
A public library is a cornerstone of a democratic society, that offers easy access to a wide variety of information. Libraries are also a place for people to come together, feel connected, and engage with others. In today's digital age, the Kirkendall Public Library is no longer just a place to check out books. We offer a multitude of services to support our growing community. Whether you are looking for recreation, relaxation or information, we can accommodate you.
Kirkendall Public Library supports lifelong learning and enjoyment in an inclusive, welcoming environment that is a primary community destination. The Library provides equal access to quality information services, materials, and resources to all members of our community.
The library is a semi-autonomous administrative agency of the City of Ankeny. Seven Trustees, appointed by the Mayor and City Council, set library policy. The Trustees employ the library director and staff who are responsible for the library's day-to-day operation. The policies adopted by the Board of Trustees are available to the public. The Board reviews each policy on a yearly basis.
The Library Board of Trustees meets at the library the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
