Obtain A Library Card
To take advantage of the full range of the library's services, you will need to obtain a Kirkendall Public Library card.
Adults 18 and over need a photo ID and something showing their current address. A driver's license is most common. But one can also use an official letter or bill, voter registration card, car registration, fishing license, mortgage agreement, lease agreement or anything stating their name and current address.
Ages 12-17 need a photo ID or the legal guardian to vouch for who they are. Ages 0-11 need a legal guardian to be with them.
Kirkendall Library Cards can be obtained in-person at 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Dr. during regular hours, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m.
Materials can be renewed twice if not requested by other borrowers. Renewals may be made at the circulation desk, by phone during regular library hours, or via the Library's Online Catalog.
Materials can be returned 24 hours a day at the drop box located at the exterior of the building near the main entrance or at the circulation desk during library hours. Materials returned to the drop box before the library opens will be backdated to the previous day. Fines on overdue items stop the moment materials are returned. Please allow 48 hours for items to get checked in.
If the item you're looking for is checked out, you may place a hold request on the item by phone at (515) 965-6460, via the Library's Online Catalog, or at the circulation desk. You will receive an email or phone call notifying you when the item is ready for pick-up. After you receive notification, the item will be held for five days.
The library is glad to accept requests for additions to the collection. All requests are given serious consideration within the constraints of budget and selection policy. If the item you request is purchased, you will be notified when it is available for check out.
