Block parties are some of the most popular neighborhood activities in Ankeny during the summer months.

Most residential streets qualify for a block party. However, a permit is required and must be submitted to City Hall prior to the event. The event organizer should notify neighbors of the event details and obtain their signatures before submitting the permit for approval.

Once the permit has been approved, Ankeny Public Works will barricade the street entrances for the event. Please note that block party requests for arterial streets, highways and some collector streets will automatically be denied for safety reasons.

For questions regarding the block party process, please call City Hall at 515-965-6400.
