Help Make Ankeny beautiful! Every year, the City of Ankeny seeks individuals, families, church groups or students needing Silver Cord hours to help maintain flower gardens at many of the city’s parks and public buildings. This is a great volunteer opportunity to help beautify our community with minimal time commitment. Consider adopting a flowerbed; it's fun, rewarding and a great way to help enhance our city.

Volunteers will select the plants and flowers  that will go in their assigned flowerbed, plant flowers and keep flowerbeds weed free. Ankeny Parks & Recreation will prepare the flowerbeds, provide plant and bed materials and water the flowers. Volunteers will receive recognition with their name on a small sign in their flowerbed.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about the Adopt A Flowerbed program, please contact Landscape Technician Vince Knoot at nature@ankenyiowa.gov or 515-963-3579.

Donations are also needed to help purchase the flowers and materials. Please consider sending a tax-deductible donation to:

Ankeny Water Quality Improvement and Stormwater Education Group (WISE)

The Ankeny Water Quality Improvement and Stormwater Education Group (WISE) is looking for volunteer members.

Our mission is to increase public awareness of these practices and encourage both personal and community actions that will best protect our health, property and natural environment.

Coaching a youth sport is just as rewarding for the coach as it is for the child. This is a great way to spend quality time with your child and give back to the community. Kids love it when they can say their mom or dad was their coach! This also helps keep our prices as low as possible and affordable for everyone. No coaching experience is necessary. We will give you all of the tools to be a successful coach!
