Mayor Bentz was appointed to Mayor in December 2024, following Mayor Mark Holm’s resignation to assume the role of Polk County Supervisor. Bentz will complete the remainder of Holm’s term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2025 . She served as a council member on the Ankeny City Council for 12 years. In December 2021, she was appointed Mayor Pro Tem.
Mayor Bentz currently represents Ankeny on the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Metro Advisory Council, and the School/City Committee. During her four terms on the Council, she also served on the Bravo Greater Des Moines Board of Directors, the Metropolitan Planning Organization and was a member of the Ankeny Comprehensive 2040 Plan steering committee. Bobbi spearheaded 100 Women Who Care Ankeny in 2017 and is a board member for the Ankeny Art Center and participated as a committee member to the Ankeny Community School District Strategic Planning process.
Mayor Bentz graduated from Ankeny High School in 1997. She has an undergraduate degree from Cornell College in Economics and Business, two Masters' degrees from the University of Iowa in Health Administration and Public Health, and a PhD from the University of Iowa in Community and Behavioral Health. Bobbi grew up in Ankeny and moved to the community in 1980. Bobbi and her husband Adam have three children and are actively involved in a variety of youth sports and activities in Ankeny. Adam is a realtor with Agency Iowa, and Mayor Bentz works in Health Outcomes and Medical Engagement for a national pharmaceutical company.
