The Ankeny Fire Department is teaming up with NFPA to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week, October 5- 11, Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home. Help us spread the word about making smart choices when it comes to buying, charging, and recycling lithium-ion batteries—because the wrong move can lead to a fire.

Community Open Houses

This year AFD will be hosting two Open Houses during Fire Prevention Week at Ankeny Fire Headquarters, 120 Ash Drive from 6-8 p.m.

Fire Prevention Week Open House is Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025

Our Special Needs Open House is specifically tailored to individuals with autism, special needs or disabilities and their families with modified activities.

The Open House on Wednesday offers tours of the Fire Station Headquarters, meeting our firefighters, and a variety of fun safety activities.
