Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the City of Ankeny, Iowa, will not discriminate against individuals with disabilities in its services, programs, or activities.

Modifications to Policies & Procedures

Ankeny will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all City of Ankeny programs, services, and activities.

Transition Plan

The City has prepared the City of Ankeny, Iowa - Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan (PDF) which addresses the physical barriers within the city infrastructure. This report includes an inventory of potential barriers, prioritization for removing these barriers, and scheduling of the initial phases of improvements. This document is available for reference and inspection on the City of Ankeny’s website, or by inquiry to the program administrator listed below.

Employment

Ankeny does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.

Effective Communication

Ankeny will provide, upon request, appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in City programs, services, and activities.

Undue Burden

The ADA does not require the City to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
