Full-time Firefighter EMT / Paramedic
Entry Requirements and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions in English.
Ability to write in English with a minimum number of spelling and grammatical errors.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and function as a team member.
Shall be enrolled and attending an Emergency Medical Technician course or be certified as an EMT or Paramedic at the time of application.
Required Special Qualifications
Shall possess a current State of Iowa Emergency Medical Services certification at time of hire.
Paramedic certification must be obtained with the agreed upon timeframe after hire date.
Shall obtain IFSAC Fire Fighter I, II and Hazardous Material Operations, ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 Level certifications throughout employment.
Shall possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Iowa and be insurable to operate city vehicles and equipment.
Must pass the Central Iowa Fire and EMS Testing Consortium written exam and physical ability evaluation (PAE) or have a valid CPAT certification.
Must be able to pass the medical physical exam per the requirements of the Iowa Municipal Fire and Police and Retirement System for FT personnel.
