Program History
The Ankeny Citizen's Police Academy began in 1999 in order to promote a better understanding of the operations of the police department with the community. Since it began, approximately 300 people have graduated from the Academy.
Once the program is completed, Ankeny Citizen's Police Academy graduates are invited to join the CPA Alumni Association to continue their relationship with the police department. The CPA Alumni Association assists with department tours, open house events, and public awareness efforts.
