Building Tours

The Ankeny Police Department is happy to provide educational building tours to local groups and organizations. Each year members of the Community Engagement Team provide multiple tours to groups of all ages. These tours provide participants with a behind the scenes look of the police department. Participants get the opportunity to see where Officers process evidence, debrief on incidents which occurred during their shift, train in defensive tactics and more.

Building tour limitations

  • Should be of kindergarten age or above – if younger we may be able to arrange a visit to you
  • Should be Ankeny based group
  • Should be 20 or less, exceptions can be made for older groups
  • Limit of one tour per group per year
  • No weapons allowed behind secured entrances without prior approval
  • No strollers or wagons
  • No food or beverages during tour
  • No use of electronic devices during tour without prior approval 

To schedule a building tour please complete the Building Tour Request Form. Completion of the form is not a guarantee of a building tour. Tours can be ended at any time due to individual or group behavior as well as Police calls for service within the city.
