Why a special census?

  • The City of Ankeny has experienced tremendous growth over the last several years and the next Federal Census will not be conducted until 2030.
  • An updated population count could help the City qualify for an additional $5 million in Road Use Tax revenues for the City over the next 6 years.
  • Federal and state funding programs distribute tax dollars based on population data. By participating in the census, Ankeny will receive its fair share of funding for roads, schools, infrastructure, and other essential services.
